Claire Danes admits her guilty pleasure is TOWIE

Category: Celebrity, Music, TV · 0

We love The Only Way is Essex and so does Claire Danes.

The 32-year-old Homeland star, who has won many awards and critical acclaim for her acting credentials obviously isn’t so picky when it comes to what she likes to watch.

Danes admitted that the Essex show is her guilty pleasure and she doesn’t care if it’s real or scripted.

The show was likened to the hit MTV show The Hills which catapulted Lauren Conrad to fame but Danes doesn’t see the likeness.  Married to Brit actor Hugh Dancy she said, “Damn, I love that show. It’s just so good.  We don’t have anything that rivals it. I don’t even care if it’s real or not, it’s thoroughly entertaining.”

TOWIE has often been slated however with fans such as Danes and even The Duchess of Cambridge, it doesn’t look like critical acclaim matters.

Meanwhile, E4′s rival to TOWIE, Made in Chelsea made a return to our screens last night and with it brought new cast members and new loves and of course, no love between Caggie and Spencer again.

Strictly wage war over higher paid The Voice judges

Strictly Come Dancing is facing a tough future as it has emerged that the remaining judges Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood haven’t signed on for the next and tenth series.

The reason? Could it be due to the fact that the judges on The Voice are being paid substantially more despite being on the same channel.

Tom Jones is rumoured to be earning £300,000 while Jessie J is said to take home £200,000. This compared to the £90,000 the Strictly judges are paid is vastly different.

Tonioli said, “are you kidding? Don’t even go there. I’ll make some phone calls to check those figures.”

When asked if he felt the BBC took them for granted he said, “well now I’ve heard that.”

The remaining three judges look set to negotiate their salaries as a group while the BBC could face disaster should one or more choose to leave as they already have yet to name a replacement for Alesha Dixon and we all know how the all change panel went down on the X Factor. With Strictly finally beating its rival in the ratings war last year, they should be doing all they can to make sure they can follow that up this year.

Sam Faiers copies Jess Wright again

Jessica Wright chopped off her luscious brunette locks only to put extensions back in just weeks later.

Fast forward a few weeks and fellow TOWIE star Samantha Faiers chopped off her blonde locks into a bob reminiscent of Mark Wright’s mother.  Obviously not enamoured with her new sleek look, Faiers has also updated her look to her previous style.  Maybe she wasn’t keen to damage her hair like Wright as she has been spotted with a bald patch from the damage of hair extensions, so she opted for a clip in  hairpiece.

She took to Twitter to alert her followers that the bob had gone, “Got the hair piece in tunes on in the car and were on our way :-) wohooo.”

She told her followers she was on her way to see Drake at the O2 with her friend and was later snapped leaving the after party at the DSTRKT club in Soho where she added, “Having a few drinks at drake in the bar.. Omg just fell over !!! Wet floor ! Hazard so embarrassing …. Ahhhh.”

Drake was playing at the O2 as part of his Club Paradise tour .  He will be returning to the UK in July to headline at Wireless alongside Rihanna.

Lorraine Kelly to take over Daybreak

Daybreak has had its fair share of drama since its launch but ITV are hoping that Lorraine Kelly will be brightening up their mornings as she is set to take over the ailing show.

The 52 year old is said to be thrilled to be taking over the show despite the unsociable early starting hour.

ITV are obviously thrilled with securing her as their host as they have given her more decent hours on the how. She will her not appear on the show until 7am. Instead, for the first hour of the show, a un-yet announced male presenter will take on hosting duties.

Channel 5′s Matt Barbet, Chris Hollins, and Gethin Jones area said to new front runners to take on the role.

As well as this, for the last hour of the she, Kelly will host the show by herself, in effect turning it into the Lorraine show.

She is currently off screens while she recovers from a horse riding accident which saw her be admitted into hospital to recover and to undergo surgery.

Before Made in Chelsea, she was used to working behind the scenes as a make up artist but Millie Macintosh is clearly loving being in front of the camera now.

She was seen auditioning to appear in last year’s Britain’s Next Top Model but didn’t get through though it seems that they clearly missed the boat as Macintosh has been unveiled as the new face of Lipsy.  She’s also recently been involved int he Umberto Giannini’s new hair care range.

Macintosh, 22, is now the face of the Lipsy’s VIP collection which is an exclusive collection of evening wear from glamorous maxi dresses with thigh length splits a la Angelina Jolie to feminine prom dresses.

She is also currently filming the next series of Made in Chelsea which returns to E4 on April 2nd.

Mackintosh is currently filming the third series of Made In Chelsea, which returns to E4 on April 2.  As well as this, she has landed herself a celebrity boyfriend in the form of rapper Professor Green, though it is unlikely he will appear in the show that she appears in with her ex-boyfriend Hugo Taylor.

S Club 7 are Bringing It All Back

It’s turning out to be a bit of a trend so why wouldn’t they join the bandwagon and reunite?

S Club 7 are joining the likes of Steps and Take That and reuniting for a reunion tour and a new album.

The 7 popstars reached the dizzy heights of fame back in their heydey and obviously they have seen the reaction to the Steps reunion and thought that they should join in.  The band haven’t reached solo success since they disbanded, not through want of trying though.  Jon Lee has been in Jersey Boys, while Hannah Spearritt tried to get her acting career to take off in Primeval and Rachel Stevens has appeared in Strictly Come Dancing.

A source said, “The guys have been inundated with approaches and offers over the past three years, but always said no.  But following a series of talks and meetings, they decided to go for it. The band figured it was a case of now or never. And if the gigs go well there is the option to release a new album, plus a Greatest Hits.  Everyone is really excited – and frantically getting back in shape.”

PR for the band were keen to point out that the reports are “just rumours at this stage.”

S Club 7 were formed by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller and shot to fame with their pop career and the corresponding TV show Miami 7.  They hit the number one spot four times and sold over 17million albums before splitting almost 10 years ago now.

Apprentice Tom launches his new product: the S shaped nail file

Category: Beauty, Tech, TV, Women · 0

As the BBC gears up for the next series of The Apprentice, last year’s winner Tom Pellereau has revealed his new venture and products with Lord Sugar’s help.

If you were expecting something super gadgety or high tech, you’re in for a surprise because the innovation in question is actually a mere nail file. With a difference of course. The new range of files are shaped into an S shape which is supposed to make it easier for women to file those all important talons into oval or square shapes.

Several retailers have snapped up the product with Sainsburys stocking it from Sunday.

Pellereau is the first winner to go into business with Lord Sugar with a £250,000 investment. He has been working non stop since winning the show to develop his products: the S file, the S buffer and emergency S file.

He said of working with Sugar, “it has been the experience of a lifetime and seeing my product on shelf is a dream come true.”

Sugar said, “Tom has worked diligently this pat year at developing the Stylfile and getting it to market. He’s done extremely well at turning a very good concept into three excellent products and getting them stocked with some of the biggest retailers in the country.”

The new series of The Apprentice includes a beauty salon owner, an ice skater who worked with Torvill and Dean and a professional wrestler named Ricky Martin (you just couldn’t make that up).

They are part if the latest 16 contestants for the upcoming eighth series of the BBC show.

Lord Sugar, 64, will for the second time plough £250,000 of investment into the winner’s business idea and also become their business partner.

Ok so Martin is a part-time professional wrestler who is actually a recruitment manager. He’s clearly a chip off the old Apprentice block as he said, “I truly am the reflection of perfection.”

No issues of self confidence there then.

Sugar tells his hopefuls in the first episode, “I’m not looking for Lord Lucan, I’m looking for somebody who is going to put themselves forward and show me that they have got the aggression and business acumen to be my partner. If I wanted a friend, I’d get a dog. I’m looking for a partner, the Marks to my Spencer, the Lennon to my McCartney.”

In the first week the candidates are divided into two teams – true to form its, boys versus girls. The teams are then tasked with starting their own print business and have just £500 worth of materials, to print on and then sell. Other tasks this series include designing a household gadget, making a condiment, opening a junk shop, creating a fitness DVD, representing urban/street artists and promoting English sparkling wine.

The new series returns on March 21 and Sugar is rejoined by Nick Hewer and Karen Brady.

The Wanted get set to release US album

Category: Celebrity, Music, TV · 0

British bands notoriously find it difficult to crack the American market but The Wanted may be in with a chance.

They are set to release their debut album over there and have already notched up a No2 hit on the iTunes chart as well as a cover on Glee.

The boys – Max George, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes – are currently touring the UK but are setting their sites on claiming the US market just as One Direction are trying their luck there too.  They took to Twitter to announce their release date:

Great news, America: We are thrilled to announce we will be releasing our first U.S. album on April 24!! Stay tuned for details :) .’

By hitting the No2 spot with Glad You Came, they overtook Take That last week to become the most successful British boy band in the States while they have also been recording songs with One Republic’s Ryan Tedder.  McGuiness said, “My guess would be we’ll take some songs from the first album, some from the second and add some new ones in too, just so everyone is on the same page.”

Cheryl: X Factor is in my past

Category: Celebrity, Music, TV, Women · 0

There’s been a lot of speculation over The X Factor judging panel when it returns later this year after last year’s drop in ratings and criticism but what most viewers want, the return of Cheryl Cole, doesn’t look like it’s happening.

Despite Simon Cowell saying he wants her back on the show and Louis Walsh hinting at her return Cole took to Twitter to announce the show is a part of her past and that everyone needs to move on.

Cheryl, 28, wrote “X factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past .. Please #letsmoveonnow #newnewspls Zzzzz *yawns*.”

Louis Walsh said earlier this week , “I’ll tell you who the panel will be. It will be Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and perhaps Cheryl Cole.  She could be back. I’m not saying she definitely will but I’d love to see her.”  While Simon Cowell said “She could be a panellist again if she wanted to – 100%.”

Looks like she doesn’t want to!
