Simon Cowell has branded the BBC’s The Voice as being an X Factor “rip off.”

He said that the flailing BBC show is “the same” as his hit show.

He said, “So my first thought is, ‘why isn’t this on radio?’ because what’s the point in looking at them. Then suddenly I’m watching it a week or two weeks ago and it’s the same as X Factor. They’ve got dancers behind them, graphics, lights. Same show.”

He added that he sees many shows trying to emulate The X Factor and that, “if you try and rip somebody off it always looks like a bad copy.”

Seeing as The Voice has started to wane and Britain’s Got Talent peaked with the biggest TV audience this year he added that he relished in winning the ratings war battle, “When The Voice came along it was like, ‘roll your sleeves up, we’re in for a bit of a punch up.’ I’m smiling now.”

The Voice continues this weekend.

They had a revamp last series but it seems the Dancing on Ice bosses are less than impressed with the new judges who have been billed as “dull and boring.”

Last series saw a whole new image for the show however it failed to make an impression with viewers with low ratings and failing to hit the headlines; something other shows are able to do continuously, good or bad.

Judges Louis Spence, Katarina Witt and Robin Cousins are reportedly up for the chop for being “too nice.”

An insider claims that bosses want to bring in better celebrities to compete and have nastier judges. They said, “It didn’t escape the notice of the top brass. They were stunned that no one was talking about it and never made the front page of The Sun.”

ITV are said to be, “going back to the drawing board” and “everything” is being looked at.

Judges Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton were axed from the show to make way for the new judges however many viewers slammed the axing of Gardiner as he often made the headlines with his bitchy comments.

The Voice loses out in ratings as viewers slam pre-recorded live show

Its won over the public so far however the first live show of The Voice left viewers less than impressed for the first time.

The live show was on Saturday night and with the promise of a live results show on Sunday night, it  left viewers wondering who they would save.  Come Sunday night though and after initial confusion with the presenters and judges wearing the same clothes, viewers were appalled by the pre-corded results which were actually filmed on Saturday night after the live show.

Judge Will.i.am also tweeted to insinuate that the results were live which caused more anger from the viewers.  He tweeted, “Tonight is going to be a difficult decision for me…I hate the idea of sending talented people home…#thevoiceuk’ he tweeted despite the show having been pre-recorded on Saturday night.”

An ITV spokesman said, “Britain’s Got Talent is packed with thrills and spills, tears and laughter and we are delighted that it consistently continues to be such a firm favourite with viewers,” while the BBC are said to be worried about the loss in viewers however are reassured by the fact that the US version also showed a drop in ratings.  A source said, “In America The Voice’s ratings dipped by 40 per cent when the live shows started. Luckily The Voice in the UK has only lost around ten per cent.  But it’s still a worry — and it’s being blamed on the red chairs. Now we’re in the live shows the ‘will-they-won’t-they?’ turnaround gimmick is all over. Viewers loved the theatre of the chairs, the buzzers and the new faces.”

Lets hope The Voice change their results show and actually do it live on Sunday nights in future after all it can’t be that hard can it?

Axed The Voice star reveals they’re paid unlike rival X Factor contestants who share house

Last night’s (not live) show The Voice saw the departure of Sam Buttery from Sir Tom Jones’ group and Sophie Griffin from Will.i.am’s group and it didn’t take long for Buttery to spill the beans on the show.

He revealed that he and the other contestants received money for appearing on the show, unlike The X Factor.

Acts on The X Factor receive no money and have to share a house with all the other  contestants once they get through to the live shows,  Buttery revealed that the acts on the BBC show receive payment for their performances on the show as well as getting their travel expenses paid, a food allowance and are put up in housing with a few other contestants.

Buttery though has had all that severed after leaving the show.   Last night saw Sir Tom choose to save duo Matt and Sueleen instead.  Buttery said he was heart broken but the process has already left him feeling like an “artist.”

He said, “I wouldn’t be feeling this positive if I’d just been kicked off The X Factor. I think I’ve been treated really well.  I haven’t tried out for The X Factor but I know people who have and they didn’t enjoy it as much.  On The Voice you are called every day and asked how you’re feeling and you are paid the money to do what you do.  They give you expenses money, money for food and a fee for performing and it’s in the interests of fairness. There is a professionalism to the show.  We don’t get paid a lot but it’s a gesture. It makes you feel valued. I haven’t been left feeling exploited or anything.”

He added though that it also made it harder for him to leave, “It’s massively gutting, I had a really nice experience. I was a bit weepy but I am OK, and I’ve learned a lot.”

He also added that he was allowed freedom with his styling, something The X Factor doesn’t allow and has stylists to dress the contestants, “The styling was all me. They let me do whatever I wanted to do.”

The Voice continues this weekend with Jessie J’s and Danny’s team battling it out to keep their place for an extra week.

It seems no one can win over the public since Arlene Phillips was let go from her position on Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC announced on Wednesday that Bussell would be taking over the judging seat left by Alesha Dixon when she defected to ITV to take a place on Britain’s Got Talent but critics have already launched slander at the dancer despite not starting the show until September.

Dixon was subject to much criticism when she joined the show for not knowing enough about dancing however despite her dancing credentials it seems some of the public still aren’t satisfied and have slated her for being “too nice.”

She has already appeared on the show, taking on a guest judging role in 2009, however as soon as her new role was announced, people were quick to take to Twitter with user Penzz saying, “No personality or bite. Not someone I’m going to tune in for.”   Meanwhile, Shanc1978, “She lacked impact, no personality. Too nicey nice and I don’t think we’ll gain anything from her.”

It wast all bad however as Bussell did receive some support.  Gowoman said, “Finally! Someone who not only knows about dancing but is able to articulate herself as well,” while PhilSh commented, “Well done, someone who actually knows what they are talking about. A very good replacement.”

BBC1 boss Danny Cohen said, “Darcey has all the experience and credentials to deliver meaningful and insightful critiques. She’s a huge fan of the show and a fantastic addition to the Strictly family.”

She initially turned it down flat but when she was offered £500,000, she thought again and agreed to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house.

With £100,000 owed in taxes for he LA bar, it seems Nadine Coyle needed the deal to get her finances back on track.

A source said, “This money will allow Nadine to clear all her debts in America and start the Girls Aloud tour with a clean slate. They simply made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.”

She will be one of 12 celebrities who will enter the celebrity house on August 15th. So far, footballer Freddie Ljungberg has signed up while rumours link Julian Clary and Corrie star Julie Goodyear to be in negotiations.

She’s the only girl on the panel and has seen her fame soar even more for her down to earth attitude and her great personality but The Voice star Jessie J is being closely monitored over fears for her health.

The pop star suffered a stroke when she was 18 and overworking herself; being in a band and holding down four jobs.

Due to the amount of pressure she is under on the show and the sheer amount of work it entails, she is being closely monitored to make sure her health doesn’t suffer.

A source said, “She works incredibly hard not only on The Voice but also promoting her album around the world. Add that to the gruelling touring, personal appearances and recording and it would be a lot for anyone to take.”

Jessie said of her stroke last year, “I had a stroke when I was 18. I was in a girl band at the time and had, like, 4 jobs. I was really tired and my body shut down.”

Jessie is currently in the US but returns to UK shores at the end of the month with the live shows of The Voice.
