The forthcoming Google tablet will be released in July, a delay from the original March date.
However, the good reason for the delay is that it means it will be cheaper at a cost of as little as #125.
The 7 inch wifi tablet will have a quad core processor and will be manufactured by Asus, but branded as a Google machine. Similar branded Google products such as their smartphones are already in existence but made in collaboration with Samsung.
The competitive prices will seriously undercut Apple prices and also put it more into competition with Amazon’s Kindle Fire. It will also be built to sell content such as video and music via Google’s own online store.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt said, “In the next six months, we plan to market a tablet of the highest quality.”
Will you buy Google’s tablet or are you still preferring Apple?
Many cars now have inbuilt bluetooth or kits that can be purchased and installed in your car but one man in Hull seems to have found a cheaper alternative.
Behold, the 2p elastic band!
The idea is simple, strap a giant elastic band to your head with your phone slipped under it. If stopped by the police though, he could have found himself with three penalty points on his licence.
Peter Loft, 62, took the picture in the village of Patrington, near Hull. He said, “This bloke drove past me and started to pull into a car park and I caught sight of this thing on his head out of the corner of my eye. My first thought was, “What the hell is that?”. But when I looked a bit closer I realised that it was a phone on the side of his head and there was an elastic band keeping it there. He was just finishing up a conversation. I’d never seen anything like that before. It looked pretty odd.”
It is illegal to drive while using a hand-held mobile phone and it’s not as if a hands free kit is priced out of many a person’s price range. You can buy hands-free kits using an earpiece which cost as little as £7.
Ellen Booth, from road safety group Brake, says she suspects the police would take this seriously as it is not a practical or safe alternative, “I would suggest that it’s even more dangerous than simply holding a phone in your hand because this is a very complicated manoeuvre.” Meanwhile a spokesman for the Department for Transport said it would be for a court to decide if the motorist was driving illegally in this case.
As the BBC gears up for the next series of The Apprentice, last year’s winner Tom Pellereau has revealed his new venture and products with Lord Sugar’s help.
If you were expecting something super gadgety or high tech, you’re in for a surprise because the innovation in question is actually a mere nail file. With a difference of course. The new range of files are shaped into an S shape which is supposed to make it easier for women to file those all important talons into oval or square shapes.
Several retailers have snapped up the product with Sainsburys stocking it from Sunday.
Pellereau is the first winner to go into business with Lord Sugar with a £250,000 investment. He has been working non stop since winning the show to develop his products: the S file, the S buffer and emergency S file.
He said of working with Sugar, “it has been the experience of a lifetime and seeing my product on shelf is a dream come true.”
Sugar said, “Tom has worked diligently this pat year at developing the Stylfile and getting it to market. He’s done extremely well at turning a very good concept into three excellent products and getting them stocked with some of the biggest retailers in the country.”

Eagle eyed Tesco shoppers found a bargain on the Tesco direct website where an error saw a 64GB wifi iPad on sale for £49.99.
Consumers were snapping up the gadget and then spreading the word on Twitter.
At one point the website crashed however Tesco were quick to state that they would not be honouring the error and would be refunding any money paid.
A spokesman said, “We always look to offer our customers unbeatable value but unfortunately this is an IT error that is now being corrected.”
It’s not the first time Tesco has made an error, though not quite at this price difference. Last year they sold Terry’s Chocolate Oranges for 29p each after an error with tills not being able to handle simultaneous promotions on the item.
Turns out the slogan ‘every little helps’ isn’t quite appropriate this time.
She was the star of the wedding and as such, is now the recipient of adding ‘turned into a cartoon’ onto her achieved list. That and the most famous bum in Britain. But we’re not jealous…
Created by Oxford artist Kate Brown, the comic is part of a series that is promoting the new PlayStation game inFAMOUS2. Cartoon Pippa is seen facing an ethical dilemma as she is asked to tell all about her sister and new brother-in-law’s honeymoon. Chatting with none other than David and Victoria Beckham, she is approached by a millionaire businessman who promises to invest money in her party-planning magazine in return for gossip about her sister’s honeymoon. Pippa is seen debating whether or not to take up his offer.
Sony, who make the PlayStation, are keen to emphasise that the stories are strictly fictional and that they have not endorsed the game.
Other celebrities starring in their own comic strips include Cheryl Cole, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

It is quite simply the gadget of our generation but recent reports suggest that the iPhone is linked to overdrawn bank accounts.
Almost 1 in 5 users of the phone admit that their main bank account is always in the red while, as a comparison, 54% of Android users and half of Blackberry users say that they are never overdrawn.
The figures were announced in a survey which analyses the correlation between financial status and the handset you use. Those who own Android or Blackberry phones are also likely to earn more than those with an iPhone.
The YouGov poll found that 10% of Blackberry users earned more than £50,000 a year compared to 5% of iPhone users. While this looks likely for those business users of Blackberries, we’re not sure they include the 13 year olds who now tote Blackberries around to school.
A total of 7% of Android users earner in this salary bracket while just under a half of iPhone users earn less than £20,000 a year, compared to 38% BlackBerry users and 27% of Android users.
The iPhone has dominated the phone market for a while now however they have recently been usurped by Android phones with 28% of people polled compared to Apple’s 26%.
Jailbreaking iPhones has proven tricky for some people in the past. Some people would jailbreak their iPhones with little knewledge and soon brick them (make them nothing but a brick).
Last week, U.S. Copyright Office announced that bypassing manufacturer’s protection mechanisms is now allowed, which in theory makes iPhone jailbreaking legal (in US).
The dev-team, which is notorious for releasing jailbreak updates has come out with a brand-new, easy to do, jailbreak (all web-based). If you head over to www.Jailbreakme.com you are able to slide the button and jailbreak your iPhone with iOS 4 (up to 4.01) within seconds.
The jailbreak works on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Browse to jailbreakme.com with your iDevice and you are all set.
