Meet Natalia Goleniowski – fashion’s latest child model

Category: Fashion · 0

You may think she’s lucky to have caught such a big break as a child model at the age of  5 but Natalia or Natty has been through much more than most to get there.

Natty has Downs Syndrome.

When she was born she almost died.  It was feared that she may never walk or talk properly while aged two she suffered pneumonia and heart surgery.

But now, she has been signed up to model clothes for two large children’s clothes companies.  Mum Hayley said, “When Natty was born we didn’t know if she would live, let alone if she would walk or talk properly.  So this is a dream come true.  But everywhere we go people stop me to say what a gorgeous little girl Natty is.  And she just adores being in front of the camera.”

Babywear company JoJo Maman Bebe agreed with Hayley and said, “When we saw Natalia’s photos we were bowled over by how pretty she was and we think she will be perfect to model clothes for our 2012 Autumn catalogue,” while Kurt Jewson of children’s organic clothing company Frugi says, “We immediately felt Natty had model potential and are now looking forward to featuring her in our next catalogue and online.”

Born with two holes in her heart, she had surgery to seal them at 2 and from there, she turned into a delightful little child, “She had so much energy and developed such a little personality.”  It was obviously one that shone because when Natty was four and the family were on holiday in Jamaica, they were approached by a photographer, “She was also on holiday and she asked if she could take some photos of Natty.  She was amazed at how photogenic Natty was. Meanwhile, we couldn’t believe how much Natty adored posing for the camera. She loved it.”

The real Fox and The Hound. Major cuteness ahead

Category: Music · 0

The Disney classic showed how two unlikely enemies became firm friends and it a very cute reality version, a little Jack Russell Terrier has befriended a fox cub.

The vixen, named Anuska, was orphaned just days after she was born when her mother was sadly run over by a car.

Luckily Art teacher Brian Bevan and his ten year old dog Sadie have stepped in to help and surprisingly have become the best of friends even going out for walks together.

Bevan said, “It’s hardly surprising to see a dog jumping around but watching a fox do it is something else.  Anuska loves playing catch. She could do it all day long. She leaps for the ball but she also likes berries, so she’ll happily jump to pick those off branches too.”  Looks like it’s safe to say Anuska has learned some neat tricks from Sadie.

He added that though they are now a similar size, experience tends to win out with Sadie winning most of their play fights.  As she is a fox, Anuska still has her natural cunning especially when it comes to food, “When she hears me putting anything out she darts over straight away. If I have food on me she’ll even jump up at me and stick her nose in my pocket to try to find it.  The second we introduced Anuska to Sadie they got on really well and played happily together. There was no hostility, they took to each other brilliantly.”

Foxes have become notoriously fearless in recent years in towns and cities but Bevan said he has no qualms about Anuska increasingly bold in recent years as they hunt for food in urban areas, and have been known to attack humans occasionally. But Mr Bevan had no concern about taking one into his home, “I’d actually always wanted a fox, so when this opportunity came about I was thrilled.”

Britain’s barmy and now balmy weather continues

Category: Music · 0

It was snowing a few weeks ago with freezing temperatures through the night but Britain’s bizarre weather has returned with a return to mild and higher than average temperatures.

This thursday we’re even set to hit 18C.

Britain will be much warmer than many parts of the Mediterranean with resorts such as Alicante in Spain expected to reach only 16.5c.

Met Office forecaster Michael Lawrence said, “It’s going to be mild or very mild for the time of year. We’re expecting temperatures to peak on Tuesday and 17 or 18 degrees is not out of the question. It’s possible it could go beyond that but at the moment it looks like it will just fall short.”

Rather surprisingly northern England will have the better warmth this week, with temperatures generally being a degree or two warmer than the South.

Even though it is early, the spring flowers have been coming up early and as a result of the mild weather councils have been left with 1.5million tonnes of grit – 60 per cent of their total winter stocks.  After the December 2010 big freeze, local authorities were keen not to have a repetition of the havoc and chaos however the councils have an estimated £50million remaining.

A Local Government Association spokesman said, “The amount of grit used so far is certainly less than last year, when councils used an estimated 1.2 million tonnes.”

Cheryl: X Factor is in my past

There’s been a lot of speculation over The X Factor judging panel when it returns later this year after last year’s drop in ratings and criticism but what most viewers want, the return of Cheryl Cole, doesn’t look like it’s happening.

Despite Simon Cowell saying he wants her back on the show and Louis Walsh hinting at her return Cole took to Twitter to announce the show is a part of her past and that everyone needs to move on.

Cheryl, 28, wrote “X factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past .. Please #letsmoveonnow #newnewspls Zzzzz *yawns*.”

Louis Walsh said earlier this week , “I’ll tell you who the panel will be. It will be Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and perhaps Cheryl Cole.  She could be back. I’m not saying she definitely will but I’d love to see her.”  While Simon Cowell said “She could be a panellist again if she wanted to – 100%.”

Looks like she doesn’t want to!

Royal dog’s name is Lupo!

It was supposed to be a closely guarded secret for their privacy but Kate and William’s dog’s name has been outed as Lupo which is Italian for Wolf.

Kate revealed the name of the Cocker Spaniel pup three weeks after royal spokesmen refused to confirm it claiming it was an invasion of their privacy.  Kate told a group of children their dog’s name when she was in Oxford to help promote one of the charities she has become a patron of, The Art Room, which encourages confidence in disadvantaged children.

Rose Hill Primary School teacher Lisa Hancock, 37, said the duchess revealed the name after the children gave her a cuddly toy dog and she said she wanted to name it after her dog at home.  She said, “The children had chosen a dog for her to cuddle during the lesson. She said “what’s it called?” and we said “would you like to give it a name?” and she said “I will call it after my dog”.”

Royal officials then confirmed the name as Lupo and added, “There is no significance in it apart from they liked the name.”

Since then Lupo has already been signed up to Twitter.

The Art Room uses drawing and painting to help children who have issues of low self esteem.

The new Banksy who carves his work on trees

Category: Music · 0

Residents in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, are said to be rather amused by mysterious carvings which have appeared on trees.

The stunning artwork has seen normal trees transformed into the likes of a dragon and a kingfisher with designs reaching from 10-20 feet high.  The locals have said they want to thank the mysterious artist for attracting tourists to the area.

Althea Farmer, chairwoman of the Knaresborough Civic Society said, “One of our members was walking down there and saw the carvings. They said one in particular – a diving kingfisher with a fish in its mouth – was absolutely marvellous.  They were blown away by it. It must have taken a while to do them.  No one has come forward and revealed who it was and it’s quite a mystery. It’s good publicity for the town as it is like having North Yorkshire’s answer to Banksy and it could be another tourist attraction.”

The civic society is currently trying to uncover the identity of the artist while Mrs Farmer added, “We are very interested in finding out who it is but we quite like the fact that nobody knows as it gives it a mystery like the Banksy drawings.  However, they are very talented so we would like them to come forward.”

Cher Lloyd makes U-turn over mentor Cheryl Cole comments

Category: Celebrity, Music, TV · 0

She was seen to be disrespectful to her former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole when she dissed her live on radio for not singing live but Cher Lloyd has now made a complete U-turn saying she owes her career to Cole and that her original comment was “taken out of context.”

Lloyd appeared on This Morning and added that she always puts her “foot in it” with her outspoken comments.  She mused, “I’m always doing it.  I think I get too comfortable with just being myself. I forget that people are watching me.  I think I really did put my foot in it and now I’ve realised that what I said was wrong, obviously, and I said sorry.   And I think it got fully taken out of context, but I think I understand now that you need to be on form and be aware of what you’re saying all the time.”

When she was asked about Cole’s response on Twitter where she said, “Be Careful who you kick on your way up… They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.  #Unappreciation is ugly” Lloyd said she wasn’t surprised, “but it is what it is.  I do owe her, but how I see it is the X Factor was a great platform for me and she really did help me and I’m very grateful.   I wouldn’t say that I wasn’t grateful for what she had given me – the opportunity that she had given me, putting me through and things like that – but I feel like from here, it’s down to me to do as best as I possibly can.”

£10 to sit and watch Olympics in Olympics Park on big screen

Category: Music · 0

It is undoubtedly the event of the year but thousands of spectators who did not get tickets to the event will be charged to watch the event on the big screens.

The decision to charge for entry to the Olympic Park is proving to be very controversial especially as tax payers have paid for the £7.25billion site.

The largest screen will be floated on the River Lea and will be double sided with the banks around it landscaped into a bowl shape where you can be seated.

The Olympic Park is home to the 80,000-seater Olympic stadium, the velodrome, water polo centre, handball arena, basketball courts and aquatics centre while it is believed that there are at least 20,000 tickets available for grounds tickets at a cost of £10 or more.

Andrew Boff, a Tory councillor for the London Assembly, said, “I think Londoners will be shocked by how much isn’t free,” while Assembly member Tony Arbour added, “It is astonishing to be asked to pay to watch television.  The UK citizens still appear to be being short-changed. First they were not given access to the number of tickets they thought they would be because they were snaffled up by other groups and now they must pay to watch it on a screen.  This was supposed to be a great public celebration, but it seems that the celebrating is going to be rationed.”

The news of more costs comes several days after it was announced that spectators will have to pay to watch the road cycling on Box Hill, Weymouth, while also in Weymouth, officials will fence off part of the Dorset coastline to stop tose without tickets from watching the event.

The cycling is one of the most-sought after events at the games and large areas of land nearby had been cleared to allow 15,000 to watch from the sidelines however that is now being challenged also, despite being on National Trust land. Mr Arbour said, “It is appalling. The road cycling was supposed to be one of the great free public events and people should not have to pay again to see it.  People are starting to wonder what will they charge for next?”

Yesterday, a spokeswoman for Locog said, “We have got ambitions to sell tickets for the big screens at the Olympic Park but we are still working through the pricing and when they will go on sale at the moment.  One of the biggest reasons for grounds tickets is health and safety because of the venue capacities.”

Snowdrop bulb sells for £725 on eBay

Category: Music · 0

A single Scottish Elizabeth Harrison Snowdrop bulb sold for a record £725 on eBay yesterday, more than double of the previous record for a Green Tear which sold for £360 just last month.

Snowdrops are becoming increasingly valuable with many collectors of the species hiring security guards or getting tags to protect their rare species.  There is also a significant increase in Snowdrop collectors or galanthopiles who are willing to part with hundreds of pounds for the flowers which first became popular in the mid 19th Century.

Joe Sharman, galanthopile and owner of Monksilver Nursery in Cambridge who also discovered the ‘Grumpy’ snowdrop – galanthus elwesii – said, “There are people who go around stealing snowdrops.  I have to hire in security guards when I hold an event.”

The Scottish Elizabeth Harrison Snowdrop aka galanthus woronowii appeared as a seedling in a Scottish garden a few years ago and is so named after its owner.  It is so rare that it has not been identified anywhere else.

Let’s hope the new buyer doesn’t have a cat or a dog; one chomp and it’s gone.

Thugs petrol bomb Lauren Goodger’s new salon

Category: Celebrity, TV, Women · 0

Less than 24 hours after it launched, Lauren Goodger has become the latest TOWIE star to fall victim to thugs.

Her salon, Lauren’s Way, was set alight and had its windows smashed just hours after the TOWIE star signed autographs outside.  The salon had not even opened up for business yet.

Goodger wrote on Twitter last night, “Thanks for you’re lovely messages tonight.. In bed with lydia and Georgia 3 in a bed won’t be able to sleep tonight..#angelslookingover.”

Goodger is the second TOWIE star to suffer at the hands of their fame with sisters Billie and Sam Faiers being attacked last year.

An Essex Police spokesman said that minimum damage had been done to the salon however police officers were still standing guard last night.  He added that the people who lived about the shop were forced to be evacuated from their homes while it is not yet clear whether they have been let back.  They added that it was the only arson attack in the area and that their investigations were still ongoing.

The salon was featured on The Only Way is Essex last week when Goodger showed the premises to pal Lydia Bright and her mother Debbie and is named after her line of tanning products.  It had been due to offer spray tans, hair blow dries and hair extensions as well as teeth whitening and HD brows.
